Authors Guidelines

Submissions must be original and should not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication while being evaluated for TICATE 2018. All submitted papers will be double blind reviewed by internationally reputable reviewers.

Information for authors

Preparing your proceedings paper:
Authors must prepare their papers using Microsoft Word, according to the Conference Proceeding Series guidelines and templates.

Please download the MS Word templates for extensive guidelines on formatting your paper. As a summary, please ensure the following:

- Paper size is European A4.
- the maximum paper lengths min is 4 pages and max 6 pages.
- Margins are 4cm (top), 2.5cm (left and right) and 2.7cm (bottom).
- The paper includes the author name and affiliation (full address including country).
- There are no page numbers, or headers and footers, within the paper.
- The PDF is free of formatting errors (e.g. corrupt equations, missing or low-resolution figures), since conversion from Word to PDF can introduce formatting errors.
- Text is single spaced, not double spaced.
- Text is single column.
- The PDF file is editable and not password protected.
- All pages are portrait (landscape pages should be rotated).
- Reference lists are checked for accuracy. References can only be linked via Crossref if they are correct and complete.
- Figures are placed within the text, not collected at the end of the document.
- A thorough proofread is conducted to check the standard of English and ensure wording is clear and concise.

Paper Submissions

Submitted conference papers will be reviewed by technical committees of the Conference. Completed papers (PDF format) should be submitted to easychair system or by e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before the deadline.

By submitting a paper an author and all co-authors are assumed to agree with the terms of the Proceedings Licence.

Review Policies

Peer Review Process

All submitted full papers will be peer reviewed. The acceptance will be granted if the recommendations from the reviewers are positive. The criteria are based on the technical contents, clarity and format. Authors should make sure the submitted papers use the template for this conference. There are three review processes: Initial Review, Peer Review and Recommendation.

Initial Review

The committee evaluated each manuscript in the submission track to determine if its topic and content is suitable for consideration for the TICATE 2018 before being reviewed. Manuscripts that do not meet minimum criteria are returned to the authors. This is in the best interest of the authors who could then decide to either correct the problems or to submit the manuscript to a more appropriate venue, avoiding delays from a lengthy review process that would nonetheless lead to rejection.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial review by the committee, will be sent to several referees based on their expertise. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees. The referees are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, soundness of methodology, impact to design research, and relevance to design practices. To facilitate timely publication, referees are asked to complete their reviews and provide individual critiques within two weeks. After collecting the referees' reports, the committee makes a recommendation on the acceptability of the manuscript.

Acceptance Decision

Based on the referees' comments, the committee makes a final decision on the acceptability of the manuscript and communicates to the authors the decision, along with referees' reports. The status reports to reviewers should identify the reviewers of each paper, the final decision can be "Accept Submission", "Revisions Require", or "Decline Submission." The revised version should be submitted considering the review comments.
